National Association of Counties • December 27, 2022

Deadline to apply for nutrition grants is January 25, 2023

The Administration for Community Living (ACL) under the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has released two new Innovations in Nutrition Programs and Services (INNU) funding opportunities that counties are eligible for to establish innovative approaches to enhance the quality and effectiveness of nutrition programs and services within the aging services system. The application for the below INNU grants is due January 25, 2023.

The first INNU program provides funding to replicate successful INNU grants in senior nutrition programs that have shown positive participant impacts. The announcement includes three replication model toolkits, which describe each project and provide resources for replication. This grant offers up to $150,000 per year over a 36-month period.

The second INNU program focuses on research and will accept proposals to create partnerships between universities or other research organizations in collaboration with aging services organizations to demonstrate whether innovative Senior Nutrition Program interventions impact nutrition, socialization and/or health and well-being outcomes. Applicants are responsible for implementing and evaluating an intervention. This grant offers up to $600,000 per year over a 60-month period.
